Who We Are

The Potpourri House was opened in September 1982. We began on Front Street in Tyler in a yellow 1904 Victorian home orginally as a tea room. Owners Les and Carol Ellsworth went on many trips to Europe and England to furnish the restaurant. Everything was for sale, including the table and chairs customers used.

Several years later, The Potpourri House moved to the Off Broadway Shopping Center and incorporated a Victorian-themed garden, with a women’s boutique and gift shop that was very similar to what the store is today.

Our current location at 3320 Troup Highway is a 16,000 square foot boutique, restaurant and party rooms. The Potpourri House is beautifully decorated from one end to the other with merchandise and murals lining the walls.  Every room is decorated, including the restrooms.

The Potpourri House is a semi-formal restaurant with facilities for

  • Weddings
  • Baby showers
  • Bridal showers
  • Luncheons
  • Business Seminars
  • Company Meetings
  • Parties
  • Award Ceremonies
  • Birthday parties
  • Family reunions

… and any other gathering or celebration you are planning.  We can cater your event up to 800 people.

The Restaurant is open Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m and the women’s boutique is open from 10 a.m to 9 p.m.  Listen and dance to the live yesteryear music of Bobby and Ken every Thursday, Friday and Saturday evening.

The Ellsworth family still owns and operates the Potpourri House over 25 years later and still believes in family.  We seek to instill our values into the business at every level. Among other things, The Potpourri House is closed on Sundays and major holidays to provide our staff a chance to enjoy their own families.

Whether you come to dine, shop or celebrate, The Potpourri House experience of southern hospitality and comfort is unlike any other in East Texas!
