The Potpourri House was opened in September 1982.

It began on Front Street in Tyler in a yellow 1904 Victorian home orginally as a tea room. The owners Les and Carol went on many trips to Europe and England to furnish the restaurant. Everything was for sale, including the table and chairs customers sat at.

Several years later, the Potpourri House moved to the Off Broadway shopping center and incorporated a Victorian themed garden, with a boutique and gift shop. This store was very similar to what the store has become today.

At the most recent location, there is a 16,000 square foot boutique and restaurant. The Potpourri House is beautifully decorated from one end to the other. Merchandise and murals line the walls and no room, not even the restrooms are left undecorated.

The Potpourri House is a semi-formal restaurant. There are facilities for weddings, baby and bridal showers, luncheons, seminars, company meetings, parties, award ceremonies, birthday parties, family reunions, and any other cause for celebration or gathering.

The Potpourri House also can cater your event. They are equipped for up to 800 people. Little girl tea parties are another possibility. The staff will prepare a tea party fit for a princess, including play time, dress up clothes, and tea party food.

The Ellsworth family believes in family values and instills that into their business. Among other things, they remain closed on Sundays and major holidays to provide their staff a chance to be with their families.
